ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT OF INDUSTRIALIZATION

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT OF INDUSTRIALIZATION

Rapid industrialization has  led to severe pollution and exploitation of natural resources, causing long-term damage to the environment in Uganda

There are  many positive impacts that result from the Industrial Revolution. One of the biggest negatives, however, it is  the toll that industrialization has on the environment. Natural resources are exploited, industrial city  of Jinja air is  polluted with thick smog, and the Nile  waterways are heavily polluted with oil and debris. As industrialization continues in Namanve Bugolobi, even after the Industrial Revolution happening in a quick developing Uganda, the signs of environmental damage are becoming more apparent. Several environmental disasters are occuring as a result of rapid urbanization and the pollution that industrialization brought upon the Earth.Industrialization is creating a heavily polluted earth that will devour us all if we don't stop all the actions that create danger to it.

Beginning in the mid-20th  century, the first Industrial Revolution introduced new technology to the country that led to faster production and consumption of materials. The second Industrial Revolution arrived a century later in the Uganda, solidifying a new way of living for many. One of the biggest environmental impacts of the Industrial Revolution was the number of pollutants it released into the environment.

The overcrowding of manufacturing companies leads to unhealthy living conditions and filth in the streets. Factory emissions caused by the industrial steam engine were released into the atmosphere. Waterways are polluted with oil and debris from improper industrial practices that leads to disastrous events. The amount of carbon dioxide released into the Earth’s atmosphere steadily increases at the start of the Industrial growth and has been rising ever since. Upon increased industrialization, the demand for fossil fuels started an upward trend in harmful human emissions.

The effects of these emissions are not immediately realized in the beginning stages of the Industrial growth.  Many signs of industrialization deteriorating the Earth have not  come until the rapid industrial growth across the country. Depletion of the ozone layer, the Earth’s natural protection against harmful ultraviolet light, is being  realized by scientists.. Air pollution causes thick blankets of smog caused by factories to cover industrial cities. This posed health risks, such as respiratory illnesses, to residents and harmed wildlife.

There fore due to industrial evolution currently seen in Bugolobi, buwama, namanve, jinja even in the growing cities of Uganda measures need to be taken to avoid rampant pollution.

The traffic police should revise the system they use in roads. Instead of corrupting over speeding and overloading, they should  have their iron hands turned to vehicles which produce bad gases produced by old motor engines. These cause  unconsciousness, cause pollution and make the surrounding lack comfort. The city should be people's dream destination but with the existence of uncomfortable conditions for a person, the city shall be a place mentioned in stories.

Factories that are near the water sources should be supervised so that the leave withdrawal of refuse into the water which limits aquatic life especially in lake Victoria.

As Ugandans we can all say environmental pollution is dangerous to the surrounding environment.
